What comes with a portable handwashing station?
A Brian Rental Works handwashing station has 2 foot-pump sinks on opposite sides, so 2 people wash at once. Each station holds fresh water, a soap dispenser and paper towels, and catches used water in a gray-water tank. The station needs no hose or power and fits beside any porta potty.

How many handwashing stations do I need for a food event?
Plan at least 1 handwashing station for every 4 porta potties at any event where food is served, and never fewer than 1. A party with 4 toilets needs 1 station. A festival with 10 toilets needs 3. Put extra stations near food lines, not only next to the restrooms.
| Toilets on site | Handwash stations (food served) | Example event |
|---|---|---|
| 1–4 | 1 | Backyard birthday with a taquero |
| 5–8 | 2 | Church fair or school carnival |
| 9–12 | 3 | Cook-off or car show |
| 13–20 | 4–5 | Festival or food truck rally |
Not sure how many toilets? Start with the porta potty calculator, then add 1 station for every 4.
Do I need a handwashing station for a temporary food booth in Edinburg?
Most temporary food events need a way for vendors and guests to wash hands. The City of Edinburg asks for a restroom authorization letter with its Temporary Use Permit, filed at least 30 days ahead. Food vendor rules can add handwashing needs, so confirm with your permit office before the event.
Start at the City of Edinburg permits and applications page or call the planning office at (956) 388-8202. Our Edinburg event permit and restroom guide walks through the steps.
Food at your event? Add a station on the same truck.
We deliver handwashing stations with your porta potties. Call by noon Monday–Saturday for same-day delivery.
Does OSHA require handwashing stations on job sites?
OSHA rule 29 CFR 1926.51(f) requires washing facilities near the work when crews handle paint, coatings, herbicides, insecticides or other harmful contaminants. Those facilities must let workers remove the substance. A 2-sink handwashing station next to the job site toilet is the simple way painters and spray crews meet that need.
Read the rule in the eCFR text of OSHA 1926.51. See our OSHA jobsite toilet rules guide and construction site toilet rentals for crew counts.
How often is a handwashing station refilled and serviced?
Every handwashing station arrives full of fresh water with soap and paper towels stocked. A 1–3 day party usually needs no refill. Long-term and job site stations are serviced on the same weekly route as your toilets: drain gray water, refill fresh water, clean the basins and restock soap and towels.
- DrainUsed gray water is pumped out of the lower tank.
- RefillThe fresh-water tank is filled for the next week.
- CleanBoth basins, pedals and the outside are scrubbed and sanitized.
- RestockSoap and paper towels are refilled on both sides.
Busy festivals can add mid-event refills. In June–September heat, food events with long lines may need a second refill on the same day.
