How many porta potties does a festival need?
Plan at least 1 toilet seat for every 50 people at the peak crowd. A 5,000-person festival needs 100 seats. On top of that, at least 5% of the units in each cluster should be wheelchair-accessible. Add 1 handwashing station per 4 toilets wherever food is sold.
| Peak crowd | Toilet seats at 1 per 50 | Accessible units (5%) | Handwashing if food (1 per 4) | Signage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2,500 | 50 | 3 | 13 | Men's and women's marked |
| 5,000 | 100 | 5 | 25 | Men's and women's marked |
| 10,000 | 200 | 10 | 50 | Men's and women's marked |
Count the crowd at its peak, not total tickets for the day. A bar or long day pushes the count up. Our porta potty sizing guide shows the hour and alcohol multipliers.
